  • Is It Hard To Learn To Scuba Dive?

Absolutely not. Learning to scuba dive is much simpler than you might think, particularly for those who feel at home in the water. Our courses are designed to let you advance at your own pace, ensuring you grasp each skill and concept thoroughly.

  • Do I Have To Meet Any Special Qualifications or Considerations Before I Can Participate in a Scuba Class?

Typically, no. Almost anyone in good average health and over the age of 12 can join our scuba classes without any special requirements.

  • Do I Have To Be a Great Swimmer To Be Certified as a PADI Open Water Diver?

Not at all. You only need to be a competent swimmer who is comfortable and at ease in water. For PADI certification, the swimming requirement is a 200-yard swim and a 10-minute float or tread water exercise.

  • What Is PADI?

PADI stands for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, which is the most significant scuba diving training organization globally. PADI is responsible for creating diving courses, training materials, overseeing the quality of training provided by its members, managing diver certification records, and issuing certification cards. Founded in 1966, PADI professionals are located in over 170 countries, with PADI being the certifying body for approximately 70% of divers in North America and over half of divers worldwide.

  • What Does It Mean To Be Certified?

Being certified means you've acquired the foundational skills of scuba diving under the guidance of a certified instructor, qualifying you to dive in open water alongside a dive buddy. Dive operators will ask to see your certification before allowing you to dive.

  • How Often Do I Have To Renew My Certification?

Your scuba diving certification lasts a lifetime. However, to maintain your diving skills, it's advisable to dive regularly, ideally more than 12 times a year, and consider a refresher course if you've not dived for a while. A good guideline is to refresh your skills if it's been six months since your last dive.

  • How Long Does a Tank of Air Last?

This varies greatly among individuals because everyone has different breathing rates, and your consumption rate increases with activity and depth. Additionally, tanks come in various sizes. This is why divers always monitor their air supply with a gauge.

  • My Ears Hurt When I Dive to the Bottom of a Pool. Won’t They Hurt When I Scuba Dive?

Ear discomfort is due to the pressure difference affecting your eardrums. In your scuba course, you'll learn techniques to equalize this pressure, similar to yawning or swallowing during a flight descent, preventing discomfort.

  • Is Scuba Diving Dangerous?

Scuba diving carries risks like any activity, but with proper training and adherence to safety protocols, it's as safe as swimming. The key to safety lies in following the rules and applying common sense.
